Day-by-day summary
Day 1: Nairobi → Samburu
First, your driver-guide picks you up in Nairobi (hotel or Jomo Kenyatta Airport) at 7:30 AM. Then, you’ll drive to Samburu, check in, relax, and enjoy an afternoon game drive that ends at sunset. Expect zebras, elephants, lions, gerenuks, Grevy’s zebra and more.
Day 2: Full day in Samburu
Wake early and enjoy morning and afternoon game drives. Consequently, you’ll have multiple chances to spot reticulated giraffes, leopards, warthogs and other endemic species. Afterwards, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Samburu → Lake Nakuru
After breakfast, travel through the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru. There, enjoy birding (flamingos) and visit the rhino sanctuary home to Kenya’s highest concentration of black and white rhinos. Later, take an afternoon game drive and then relax at your lodge.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru → Lake Naivasha
First, transfer to Hell’s Gate National Park for dramatic scenery and wildlife. Next, check in at Lake Naivasha, have lunch, then take a boat cruise to see hippos and abundant birdlife at sunset. Finally, dine and overnight at the lakeside lodge.
Day 5: Lake Naivasha → Maasai Mara
After an early breakfast, drive to Maasai Mara (approximately 6 hours). After checking in, enjoy an afternoon game drive through the Mara’s sweeping plains where wildebeest, lions, cheetahs and elephants are commonly seen.
Day 6: Full day in Maasai Mara
Spend a full day in the reserve with a picnic by the Mara River. Moreover, you’ll likely see large herds, predators and, depending on season, spectacular migration crossings. Afterwards, return to camp for dinner and rest.
Day 7: Morning drive & return to Nairobi
Finally, take an early morning wildlife drive to catch predators returning from their hunt. Then, have breakfast, check out and drive back to Nairobi where you will be dropped off at your preferred location.
