Day 1: Pickup and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park.Â
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your Kampala hotel for the first day of your 5-day Maasai Mara and mountain gorilla safari. By your safari guide who will give you a briefing of safari before you depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is in the southwest of Uganda and is home to the world’s largest population of mountain gorillas.
Along the way you will enjoy the scenery as you travel and observe the locals going about their everyday lives. Stop at the equator monument for photos, having the water experiment to witness the northern and southern hemispheres, and buying souvenirs. You will make a second stopover in Mbarara for lunch at Igongo cultural centre to taste on organic African food, before continuing to the park, on the way there, you will enjoy the picturesque views of the mountains, tropical rainforests and bamboo forests. When you get in the park, you will check into your lodge, have dinner and spend the night.
Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking experience.
On the second day of 5 days Maasai Mara and mountain gorilla safari. Get up early for breakfast, meet your safari guide with your packed lunch and then go to the park headquarters for a ranger guide-led briefing on mountain gorilla trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated to a gorilla group, you will trek into the forests. Along the way looking for the gorillas you will get the chance to observe additional primates as you walk including olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, numerous birds, and different kinds of trees. You will search for the gorillas on an excursion that lasts between thirty minutes to six hours with the assistance of a guide. Once you locate the gorillas, you will be permitted to stay in their presence for one hour to observe the gorillas and their behavior as they feed their young, gather food, and take memorable photos using cameras of no flash, recording the videos. After the one hour, you will go back to the park headquarters to receive your trekking certificates for participating in gorilla trekking. If you still have energy you can do an optional activity, the batwa tours experience, and after you can return back to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 3: fly to Maasai Mara national reserve.Â
On the third day of 5 days Maasai Mara and mountain gorilla safari. Wake up early in the morning and be served with a hearty breakfast. After breakfast at your lodge, check out and drive to Kihihi airstrip to catch your domestic flight to Entebbe airport. From Entebbe airport, take a second flight to Maasai Mara Serena Airstrip to reach Maasai Mara national reserve. Your safari guide will meet you at the airport and transport you to your camp or lodge where you will check in, enjoy lunch and then relax for a while. You will travel to the reserve in the evening for an evening game drive. You may observe various creatures, including lions, leopards, wildebeests, buffaloes, cheetahs, rhinoceroses, zebras, and many others. You will return to your lodge after the experience, have dinner, and spend the night there.
Day 4: full day in Maasai Mara national reserve.
On the fourth day of 5 days Maasai Mara and mountain gorilla safari. Get up early in the morning and have a leisurely breakfast. After eating breakfast, get ready to leave for the reserve for a full-day game drive with your packed lunch. During this game drive, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to explore the Maasai Mara national reserve‘s numerous regions. You will see a variety of creatures throughout this encounter, including Maasai giraffes, elands, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, cheetahs, leopards, lions, elephants, bat-eared foxes, and jackals that live in the reserve’s savannah plains and many attractions.
At lunch you will have picnic lunch set in the wilderness of the reserve then go for another game drive, at the end of the experience you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 5: morning game drive and transfer back to Nairobi.
The final day of your five-day Maasai Mara and mountain gorilla safari includes an early breakfast, check-out, and enroute game drive as you leave the reserve and return to Nairobi. When you get to Nairobi, you’ll eat lunch before being dropped off at your hotel or the airport to catch your flight home.
