This 5-day safari in Murchison Falls National Park focuses on chimpanzee trekking and includes Kibale Forest National Park for a more comprehensive trekking experience. Game viewing and launch trips are two other activities.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Murchison Falls.Â
Your safari guide will meet you at Entebbe International Airport or at your hotel on the first day of your five-day Murchison Falls and Kibale chimpanzee safari, and give you a briefing of the safari and then you will then be transferred to the national park that takes 5 to 6 hours. Along the way you will have the stunning views of the landscape that makes your safari intriguing, and enroute lunch in Masindi. You might make an optional stopover at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to do rhino tracking before continuing on to Murchison Falls. Later you will proceed with your journey until the park. After approaching the park you will enter the park through the Kachumbanyobo gate and continue to the top of the falls where you are going to have the magnificent views of animal species, bird species and among others while on the five-day Murchison Falls safari. Transfer to a lodge check in, such as Paraa Safari Lodge or Fort Murchison Lodge, for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Boat Cruise.
The second day of your 5-day Murchison Falls and Kibale chimpanzee safari will begin with waking up and being served with a leisurely breakfast before you embark on a game drive in search of park’s early raisers. Baboons and antelopes are among the additional creatures you might observe. Other animal species to be observed include water bucks, Uganda kobs, lions, grey duiker, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes and various bird species. After the game drive your safari guide will drive you back to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation.
After lunch, you will embark on a launch or boat trip on the Nile River in the afternoon to reach the base of the falls. You’ll get up close and personal with large Nile crocodiles, hippos, and a variety of birds on the voyage. After the boat cruise meet with your safari guide and go back to the lodge for dinner, stay the night at the Lodge like before.
Note: On this particular day, you can as well opt for a balloon ride in the morning instead of the game drive.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National ParkÂ
You will have an early breakfast on the third day of your five-day Murchison Fall and Kibale chimpanzee safari, and check out before setting out on a lengthy trek to Kibale Forest National Park. You can stopover in Fort Portal town for lunch on the way and, if you like, explore the crater lakes, caverns, and stalagmite site at Amabere Ganyinamwiru. After continue with your trip to Kibale and arrive there in the evening. Check in for dinner and overnight stay at Chimpanzee forest guest house, Primate Lodge or Kyaninga Lodge.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking.
On the fourth day of the five-day Murchison Falls and Kibale chimpanzee safari, you will wake up early in the morning and take a hearty breakfast, after breakfast meet with your safari guide with your packed lunch and report to the park headquarters for an orientation about the rules and regulations to follow during chimpanzee trekking before setting out to trek chimpanzees close to Kanyanchu. You could spend a half day on this. Other primates in the region include baboons, red colobus, blue monkeys, pottos, white and black colobus monkeys, grey checked mangabeys, and L’Hoest monkeys. Other creatures include forest elephants that are different from the typical kind, enormous forest hogs, and an eye-catching tree species that can be spotted while looking for the chimpanzees. The activity takes 30 minutes to 4 hours and once the chimpanzees are spotted you are given one hour to be in presence of the chimpanzees as your observing their behaviors, watching them feed, play, taking their pictures and recording their videos. After the activity meet with your safari guide and eat your packed lunch.
After taking your lunch head to the Bigodi Swamp Sanctuary, a popular destination for birders, for a guided nature walk. Among the other 137 bird species, the Great Blue Turaco and Papyrus Gonolek are immediately identifiable. There are numerous species of butterflies as well. Later, come back for dinner and spend the night as before.
Day 5: Back to Kampala.
On the final day of your 5-day safari to the Murchison Falls, you’ll have breakfast and then head back to Kampala while having enroute lunch in Mityana town. After reaching Kampala your safari guide will drop you at the Entebbe airport so you can catch your trip home.
