Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival: Kigali → Kisoro → Bwindi

First, your safari guide meets you at Kigali International Airport. Then, you drive to Kisoro via the Cyinka Border a scenic journey of about five hours, so we recommend arriving in Kigali in the morning. Along the way you will enjoy impressive views and have lunch en route. Upon arrival, you check in at the lodge and later take a short nature walk around the lodge to spot colourful bird species. Finally, dinner, relaxation and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking: Rushaga Sector

After an early breakfast, you receive a packed lunch and transfer to the park headquarters for a 7:00 AM briefing. Then, guided gorilla trekking begins. Trekking time varies widely from about 30 minutes to up to seven hours and the terrain is steep and dense. When you find the gorillas, you will have one hour to observe them from a respectful distance of 6 metres. During this hour you can watch them play, feed and build nests, and also take photos and video. Afterwards, you return to the lodge to relax. Additionally, you may choose to visit a nearby community, such as the Batwa people, to learn about local culture.

Day 3: Second Gorilla Trekking: Nkuringo Sector

Next, enjoy another early breakfast and a packed lunch before heading to the briefing site for your second gorilla trek in the Nkuringo sector. Then, follow the same thrilling routine: trek through the rainforest and spend up to one hour with a different gorilla family. After the encounter, return to the lodge to rest. In the evening, you can optionally join a forest walk to spot more birdlife before dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Departure: Bwindi → Kigali

Finally, depart the lodge and drive back to Kigali International Airport. If time permits, you may visit the Genocide Memorial Centre in Kigali before your flight. In any case, the driver will ensure you arrive at the terminal with plenty of time to spare.
