Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala / Entebbe → Bwindi
First, our representative meets you at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport, and then your driver-guide briefs you about the tour. Next, depart around 7:00–8:00 AM for a 9–10 hour drive to Bwindi.
En route, stop at Kayabwe (the Equator) for photos and the equator experience. Afterwards, break for lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre, Mbarara, where you can taste local organic dishes and, if you wish, visit the Ankole museum and craft shop for souvenirs. Finally, continue to Bwindi, check in at your lodge, and relax for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
After an early breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for a mandatory briefing on rules and safety. Then, accompanied by armed rangers and guides, trek into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in search of mountain gorillas. Trekking can be strenuous and typically takes 2–8 hours depending on the gorillas’ location; therefore a moderate level of fitness is recommended.
Once gorillas are located, you will spend one hour observing them: watch them feed, play and groom, and take photos or videos. Afterwards, return to the trailhead and receive your gorilla trekking certificate.
Day 3: Bwindi → Kampala
Following breakfast, depart early for the approximately nine-hour scenic return to Kampala. Along the way, enjoy the misty Kigezi hills, banana (matooke) plantations and cattle farms near Ntungamo. Stop again at Igongo for lunch and at the Equator for final photos and coffee. Finally, arrive in Kampala where you may choose to be dropped at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport.
