Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali ➜ Kibale Forest
First, our representative meets you in Kigali (airport or city). Then, enjoy a scenic drive with lunch en route before arriving at Kibale. Finally, check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking + Bigodi Swamp
After an early breakfast, head to Kanyachu Visitors Centre for a briefing. Next, trek with a ranger to find your chimp family – this may take 30 minutes to 4 hours, and you’ll get 1 hour with the chimps once located. Afterwards, enjoy the Bigodi Swamp walk to spot birds, sitatungas and primates, then return to the lodge for dinner.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi
Early breakfast and check-out, then depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Meanwhile, savor panoramic landscapes and a lunch stop along the way. Upon arrival, relax at your lodge and prepare for gorilla trekking.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi
Begin early with a briefing at the park headquarters. Then, trek with an experienced guide to find a gorilla family – trekking can range 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on their location. Importantly, you’ll spend 1 hour observing mountain gorillas: feeding, nurturing and social behaviors – and take incredible photos. Afterwards, receive your gorilla trekking certificate and return to the lodge.
Day 5: Return to Kigali and departure
Finally, enjoy a leisurely breakfast, check out, and drive back to Kigali with a lunch stop en route. Then, your driver-guide transfers you to Kigali International Airport (or agreed drop-off point) for your onward flight.
