Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Kibale
Upon arrival at Entebbe Airport, our representative and driver/guide will welcome you. Then, travel west via Mityana with a lunch stop in Fort Portal. Next, continue to Kibale National Park, arrive late afternoon, check in to your lodge, relax, and enjoy dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Walk
First, have an early breakfast and meet your guide for a park briefing at the headquarters. Then proceed to Kanyanchu for chimpanzee trekking tracking may take a half-day. Afterwards, spend one hour observing the chimpanzees: watching social behavior, photographing, and filming. Later, after lunch, join a guided walk in Bigodi Swamp Sanctuary; consequently, birdwatchers can spot species like the Great Blue Turaco and Papyrus Gonolek, plus many butterflies. Finally, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi
Rise early, enjoy breakfast, and depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. En route, pass through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth NP, famed for its tree-climbing lions. Then stop for lunch and photography of the scenic landscapes. Arrive in Bwindi in the afternoon, check in, relax, and dine at your lodge.
Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking
After breakfast, attend the morning briefing at the park headquarters. Then you’ll be allocated to a group of up to eight and guided by an armed ranger through Bwindi’s trails. Trekking can take 2–8 hours depending on gorilla locations. Once found, enjoy one hour with the gorillas observe nesting, feeding, and bonding while taking photos and video. Afterwards, return to the start to receive your gorilla trekking certificate. If time and energy permit, visit the Batwa community (curios, school) or hike the Munyanja River trail for more birds and butterflies. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Return to Kampala / Departure
Finally, after breakfast, depart Bwindi for Kampala. Stop in Mbarara for lunch and pause at the Equator for photography if desired. Then continue to Entebbe for your onward flight or transfer into Kampala concluding your 5-day chimpanzee and gorilla trekking safari.
