Day by Day Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable
On the first day of the 4 days Uganda and Rwanda tour, you will be picked up from your Kigali hotel or Kigali International Airport and start on your long drive to Bwindi impenetrable park across the Rwandan border.
After an enroute lunch, go via the Katuna border or Cyanika border to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, where you will find the gorillas of Uganda. You will arrive in Bwindi in the evening with the stunning views of the landscape.
Upon your arrival you will check in your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
DAY 2: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Nyungwe
On the second day of the 4 days Uganda and Rwanda tour. Wake up early in the morning and take breakfast. After an early breakfast meet your safari guide and transfer to the headquarters of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you are encouraged to have a packed lunch and bottled water in case the park ranger guides need to brief you between 7:00 and 2:00 in the morning.
After your briefing, you will head out into the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park’s forests with your safari guide. This activity takes approximately 30 minutes to 6 hours while looking for the gorillas, while observing the spectacular biodiversity along the way. Your recommended spending no more than an hour with them after you arrived.
After the trek, you return to the starting point, to receive your gorilla trekking certificates for participating in gorilla trekking and later be transferred to the lodge for a meal and check out of your accommodation for your transfer to Nyungwe national park.
DAY 3: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
On the third day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and have breakfast. After breakfast, meet your guide to take you to the park headquarters at Uwinka/Cyamudongo for briefing about the rules and regulations to follow while carrying out chimpanzee trekking.
After the briefing you will be divided into different groups, with the presence of the armed rangers, you will explore the park’s jungles in search of the chimpanzees in the forest. Chimpanzee trekking takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on their location.
Once you spot the chimpanzees, you will spend one hour in the presence of these creatures watching them feed, swinging on the nearby trees and play. You’ll go back to the starting point to receive your chimpanzee trekking certificates and then return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch and a moment of relaxation, return to the park for your canopy walk. The fact that the bridge is suspended over the forest allows you to view the wildlife from above and make it a favourite for the bird watchers and every nature lover.
This is where you are going to experience the aerial magnificent view of the entire park. Before sundown, make your way back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
DAY 4: Transfer to Kigali and departure
After breakfast, check out from the lodge and start on your journey back to Kigali. Before heading to the airport, you’ll have a stop at Nyanza palace and the sites of the Huye and Murambi.
After the brief stopovers, you’ll proceed to Kigali international airport for departure making an end to your safari.
