Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival, Narok stop & afternoon game drive

05:30–07:30 – Pickup from Nairobi / airport
Your guide and safari vehicle will collect you from your Nairobi hotel or Wilson Airport. Most operators depart early to maximize wildlife time.

07:30–10:30 – Scenic drive toward Narok
You’ll head southwest on the main tarmac; drivers usually make a short comfort stop in Narok to stretch, buy snacks, or top up supplies. Narok is the last sizeable town before the Mara and gives a quick glimpse of local market life. Expect some road deterioration after Narok as you near reserve gates.

11:30–13:00 – Arrival at camp & lunch
Arrive at Sentrim Mara Camp (or your chosen camp), check in and enjoy lunch. Camps are typically located near access roads so you can be on the plains quickly for an afternoon drive.

15:00–18:00 – Afternoon game drive
Late-afternoon is superb: predators become active, herds graze in long shadows, and the light is golden for photos. Your experienced driver/guide will seek out large mammals (elephants, buffalo, lion prides), classic plains species (zebra, wildebeest, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles) and, if lucky, a leopard resting in acacia trees. Short stops for wildlife photos, tracking and interpretation are part of the experience.

19:00 – Dinner & overnight at camp
Return to camp for dinner. Sentrim Mara offers tented or cottage accommodation with ensuite facilities and simple comforts a restful end to your first Mara day.

Day 2: Sunrise drive, lunch & return to Nairobi (detailed timeline)

05:00 – Early breakfast & depart for sunrise game drive
A sunrise game drive is the highlight: predators finishing a night hunt, giraffes silhouetted against dawn, and soft light ideal for wildlife photography. A well-timed early drive increases chances of seeing active predator behaviour.

08:30–11:30 – Extended drive across different habitats
Your guide will traverse riverine grasslands, kopjes (rocky outcrops) and open plains – each habitat attracts different species. Keep an eye out for herds of grazers, cheetahs on the move, and large elephant family groups. Rhinos occur but are elusive and less common than the other Big Five.

12:00 – Lunch at camp & check-out
Return to the camp for a leisurely lunch, then check out and prepare for the road back to Nairobi.

13:30–18:00 – Drive back to Nairobi
Enjoy the countryside views on the return journey; arrival time depends on traffic and the gate you exit from (typically late afternoon to early evening). Your safari ends on drop-off at your Nairobi hotel or Nairobi airport.
