Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Volcanoes NP
First, you’ll land at Kigali International Airport, where your guide greets you. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a short city tour visit Kimironko Market and the Genocide Memorial and savor a local lunch. Next, drive to Ruhengeri, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. In the evening, settle into your lodge and relax over dinner.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Cultural Village
Early morning, enjoy breakfast before briefing at the park headquarters. Then, set off into the forest to find mountain gorillas. Trekking lasts 30 minutes to 7 hours, depending on their location. When you locate a family, you’ll spend one hour observing and photographing these gentle giants. Afterwards, collect your trekking certificate and visit Iby’iwachu Cultural Village to meet local communities. Finally, return to your lodge for dinner.
Day 3: Kigali to Maasai Mara
After breakfast, check out and drive back to Kigali Airport. Next, fly to Nairobi and transfer by road to Maasai Mara (approx. 5 hours). Upon arrival, check into your lodge inside the reserve. In the evening, unwind and prepare for tomorrow’s game drives.
Day 4: Full-Day Game Drives in Maasai Mara
Rise early for a hearty breakfast, then embark on your morning game drive. Explore the rolling plains, spotting lions, buffalo, antelope—and, if you’re lucky, the Great Migration river crossings (July–October). Afterwards, return to the lodge for lunch. Then, head out again for an afternoon drive to catch any wildlife you missed. Finally, dine under African skies.
Day 5: Final Game Drive & Departure
Enjoy breakfast at leisure, then check out. Before leaving the park, take a brief en‑route game drive for one last wildlife glimpse. Finally, transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi or onward travel.
