Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Explore Kigali
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport or your hotel, meet your Primate Tours driver. First, visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial to reflect on Rwanda’s history. Then, wander through Kimironko Market and experience local life at “the Palace.” Finally, enjoy dinner at a top city restaurant and overnight in Kigali.
Day 2: Nyiragongo Volcano Hike
After breakfast, journey via the Cyangugu border to Goma, then on to Kibatsi village the trailhead for Nyiragongo. Following a briefing and porter hire, ascend the volcano (4–6 hours). At the summit, relish panoramic views of molten lava, then dinner and overnight in crater-edge cabins.
Day 3: Descent & Transfer to Volcanoes NP
Next morning, descend Nyiragongo and drive back to Kigali by 3 pm. Thereafter, continue to Volcanoes National Park (2–3 hours). Upon arrival, check into your lodge, unwind, then dine under starry skies.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Adventure
Rise early for breakfast, then attend the 6 am briefing at park headquarters. You’ll be assigned one of 10 habituated gorilla families. From 7 am, trek through lush forest (30 minutes–5 hours) until you encounter these gentle giants. Spend a magical hour observing and photographing their playful behavior, then return to headquarters. Later, enjoy downtime at the lodge or opt for a village visit, followed by dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Iby’wacu Cultural Experience & Departure
After breakfast and lodge check-out, immerse yourself in Rwandan traditions at Iby’wacu Hamlet discover traditional dances, local cuisine, herbal medicine, and crafts. Finally, drive back to Kigali for lunch before being dropped at your hotel or the airport for your onward journey.
