Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi
First, your driver-guide meets you in Kampala and departs south. En route, stop at the Equator (Kayabwe) for photos and then enjoy lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre. Afterwards, continue through Ntungamo and Kabale for striking highland views. Finally, arrive at Bwindi, check in and relax.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking (Bwindi)
Early breakfast is followed by a park briefing and group allocation (max 8 trekkers per family). Then, trek through the forest which can take 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on gorilla location. Along the way, observe forest birds, baboons, L’Hoest’s monkeys and diverse flora. Once gorillas are found, spend one hour with them; subsequently return to headquarters for a certificate, then to your lodge for dinner.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Mburo + Walking Safari
After breakfast, depart Bwindi and travel toward Lake Mburo, stopping for lunch in Mbarara. Upon arrival, optionally join a guided walking safari to encounter wildlife on foot and enjoy birdlife. Then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive + Afternoon Boat Cruise
Begin with an early game drive to see zebras, elands, topi, buffalo, Uganda kob, impala and giraffes grazing the savannah. After lunch, take a boat cruise to view hippos, Nile crocodiles, waterbucks, buffalo and many water birds including fish eagles and cormorants. Return to the lodge for dinner.
Day 5: Return to Kampala
After breakfast, check out and drive back to Kampala. Stop for lunch en route, and then be dropped at Entebbe International Airport or your preferred Kampala location.
