Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Tarangire National Park
First, your Primate Holidays guide meets you in Arusha and briefs you about the safari. Then you’ll drive 4–5 hours to Tarangire, arrive for lunch, and check into your lodge. In the late afternoon you’ll enjoy a game drive looking for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras and baboons before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater & Serengeti transfer
After breakfast, drive about four hours to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Next, descend more than 600 metres into the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest inactive caldera. Here, you’ll see year-round water and food sources that attract wildlife including wildebeest (commonly seen in January–March), zebra, buffalo, eland, hippo and elephants. Moreover, Lake Magadi in the crater’s southwest often hosts flamingos and water birds. Following a picnic lunch, continue to Serengeti National Park; later you’ll check in, have dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: Full day in Central Serengeti
Rise early for breakfast, then spend the day exploring Central Serengeti. The region is famous for large male lions, and you’ll likely spot cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, giraffes, elephants and a wide variety of antelope. Furthermore, if you missed the Maasai Mara crossings, note that April–May to early June is when many wildebeest move toward the Serengeti centre and Grumeti River crossings occur. In the evening return to your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 4: Transfer back to Arusha
Finally, after breakfast check out and begin the 6–7 hour return drive to Arusha. Upon arrival you’ll be dropped at a convenient location, marking the end of your 4-day Tanzania game viewing safari.
