Why Samburu? – Wildlife & scenery
Samburu is famous for the Samburu Special Five – Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa (oryx), Somali ostrich and the elegant gerenuk. In addition, the park hosts lions, elephants, cheetahs and many more mammals.
Furthermore, birdwatchers will love over 350 bird species, including kingfishers, sunbirds, bee-eaters, marabou storks and bateleurs. In short, the reserve is a paradise for nature lovers and photographers
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival to Samburu
First, your English-speaking driver-guide collects you from Nairobi (hotel or airport). Then, after a short briefing, you’ll travel north approximately 300–350 km to Samburu, arriving in time for lunch and lodge check-in. Later, enjoy an introductory game drive, followed by dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Full day in Samburu
Wake early, enjoy breakfast, and set out for a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch. Meanwhile, you’ll follow the Ewaso Ngiro River the life source of the reserve and scan the riverbanks and plains for rare species and birds. Later, return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.
Day 3: Departure to Nairobi
After breakfast, check out and drive back to Nairobi. Consequently, you should arrive in the afternoon for a drop-off at the airport or your hotel. Finally, this marks the end of the 3 Days Samburu Safari.
