Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali → Bukavu → Kahuzi Biega
First, your Primate Holidays guide will meet you at Kigali International Airport. Next, you’ll cross the scenic Cyangugu border into the DRC, pausing to admire lush landscapes. Upon arrival in Bukavu, proceed directly to Kahuzi Biega National Park. Finally, settle into your lodge, savor a delicious dinner, and rest up for tomorrow’s trek.

Day 2: Lowland Gorilla Trekking
Early morning, enjoy a hearty breakfast before heading lunch packed to park headquarters. After registration and a safety briefing, you’ll be assigned to a tracking team. Then, follow expert rangers deep into the forest until you find your gorilla family. Thereafter, relish one precious hour photographing and observing these magnificent creatures. Afterwards, collect your trekking certificate before opting for an optional community excursion:

In the evening, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Return to Kigali
After breakfast and lodge check-out, journey back across the Cyangugu border. En route, stop at Nyanza King’s Palace to explore royal tombs, then continue to the Butare Museum. Finally, arrive in Kigali where we’ll drop you at your hotel or airport for your onward flight.
