Unearth Tarangire National Park in a compact, unforgettable 2-day wildlife safari. Nearby Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro, Tarangire is famed for vast elephant herds, iconic baobabs, and excellent dry-season viewing. Consequently, this tour is ideal for short stays or add-ons to longer northern Tanzania itineraries.

Why Tarangire?

First, Tarangire offers spectacular elephant sightings sometimes herds of up to 300 and, moreover, unique dry-country species such as gerenuk and fringe-eared oryx. Additionally, the Tarangire River reliably attracts wildlife from June to October. Therefore, game viewing is at its peak during the dry season.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pickup & Full-day Game Drive

Your Primate Holidays guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and briefs you on the safari. Then, after a scenic ~2-hour drive past Mount Meru and Arusha, you arrive at Tarangire. After breakfast and lodge check-in, enjoy a full-day game drive with a packed lunch. Finally, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 2: Early Morning Game Drive & Departure

Early in the morning you depart with your guide for a short game drive (approximately sunrise to mid-morning), aiming to see predators and early activity. Afterwards, return for breakfast, check out, and transfer back to the airport. Depending on your schedule, you may stop in Arusha for quick shopping.

Best Time to Visit

Visit between June and October. During the dry season, vegetation thins, and wildlife concentrates around the Tarangire River, which results in exceptional viewing.
