5 Days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee habituation experience

First, this is a rare chance to spend four hours with mountain gorillas and four hours with chimpanzees – thereby creating unforgettable, close-up wildlife encounters. Moreover, the trip combines Kibale’s primate forests and Bwindi’s cloud forest for maximum biodiversity and photo opportunities.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale

You will be met at Entebbe or your Kampala hotel, and then drive 5-6 hours through Mityana and Mubende, stopping for lunch in Fort Portal. Afterward, relax at your lodge and prepare for tomorrow.

 

Day 2: Chimpanzee habituation + Bigodi

Early briefing at the visitors’ centre, then join researchers and trackers for the chimpanzee habituation trek; consequently, you may spend up to four hours with the chimps. Later, enjoy an optional Bigodi Swamp walk for more wildlife viewing.

 

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi

After breakfast, journey to Bwindi. Meanwhile, enjoy scenic views of the Rwenzori and Kigezi hills before checking into your lodge for dinner and rest.

 

Day 4: Gorilla habituation in Bwindi

Following an orientation, trek with researchers and rangers for the full-day habituation process; once the gorillas are located, you will spend up to four hours observing and learning about their behavior. Afterwards, return to the lodge for the evening.

 

Day 5: Return to Kampala

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast, then drive back to Kampala with a lunch stop in Mbarara; finally, you will be dropped at your hotel or Entebbe Airport.
